Field of Streams Senior Living will provide services such as gourmet meal preparation in separate dining facilities with varying theme experiences, 24/7 limited menu room service, daily activities, travel, recreational activities, exercise classes & sports, housecleaning, personal care services, maintenance, security and local transportation while you are able to live independently in our apartments or cottages.

A short 15 minutes and you are picnicking, horseback riding, biking or walking the trails at South Mountain State Park. In fact, you and the Grandchildren can enjoy nature at its best, a bit of history at the Kings Mountain Battleground and the largest wildlife reserve in the Southeast at South Mountain Wildlife Preserve.
Explore the Carolina Blue Skies.… South Mountain State Park: Residents of the Field of Streams Community will peer out their windows at the South Mountains. The South Mountains are an isolated, majestic mountain range, arising from the gently rolling Foothills and upper Piedmont region of western North Carolina. You'll find a belt of peaks and knobs, with deep valleys in between. These mountains encompass 100,000 acres in Burke, Cleveland and Rutherford counties.
Kings Mountain State Park: A beautiful drive of about 30 minutes and you are in the Kings Mountain State Park. A big, hilly, woodsy park with lots to do, this has been a regional favorite for generations. Built originally by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, Kings Mountain has miles of trails, equestrian facilities, group camping barracks, campgrounds, two fishing lakes with boat rentals and the popular Living History Farm. The farm is a realistic replica of a typical Piedmont farm from the early to mid 1800s.
Chimney Rock State Park: An easy drive one hour West and you are viewing a 404 foot waterfall at Chimney Rock. And there is an elevator that takes you to the top of the Rock. One of North Carolina's newest state parks is located on the edge of the Hickory Nut Gorge, around the monolithic rock formation which gives the area its name. The park's namesake, a huge pillar of granite provides views that are second to none. You'll see the Gorge, the surrounding mountains, and sparkling Lake Lure. Competing with the majesty of Chimney Rock is the regions tallest waterfall. The spectacular 404’ Hickory Nut Falls - is accessible at both the top and the bottom trails.
Gorges State Park: A complement of Chimney Rock State Park, the Gorges State Park is a unique collection of waterfalls, rugged river gorges, sheer rock cliffs and one of the greatest concentrations of rare and unique species in the eastern United States. It's located on the Blue Ride Escarpment - in an area where elevations rises 2,000 feet in only four miles. Here, moisture is squeezed out of Southerly flowing air to create rainfall in excess of 80 inches per year. This qualifies the unique environment as a temperate rain forest.
Crowder’s Mountain State Park: A short 45 minutes East of the property you’ll discover this beautiful park offers a wealth of activities for all ages: rock climbing, backcountry camping, hiking, fishing, picnicking, canoeing, bird watching, educational programs, and more! Hikes range from mild to difficult but offer a view of the City of Charlotte to the east and North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains to the west.
National Parks & Battlefields Kings Mountain National Military Park: Kings Mountain National Military Park commemorates a pivotal and significant victory by American Patriots over American Loyalists during the Southern Campaign of the Revolutionary War. The battle fought on October 7, 1780 destroyed the left wing of Cornwallis' army and effectively ended Loyalist ascendance in the Carolinas.
Trails & Greenways Kings Mountain Gateway Trails: The Gateway trails will begin in the heart of the City of Kings Mountain which is a short 20 minutes from the Field of Streams Senior Living. Known as the Carolina Thread Trail, it will weave together communities and connect North and South Carolina, knitting together existing and planned local greenways in a 15-county region through a 500-mile ribbon of green. It will link parks, trails, paths, abandoned railroads, scenic roadways, rural green space and historic sites to more than 40 destinations and attractions across the region.
Broad River Greenway: From its headwaters high in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Broad River first trickles, then cascades, and finally roars down the mountainside. A trip to the Broad River Greenway means you can enjoy a day of wholesome fun and educational opportunities. Of course, you can just come sit by the river with us.
